About: Florida
Sarasota, Florida - My wife and I needed a quick trip away, so we headed down to Florida over Memorial Weekend (2004). We flew into Tampa, and then drove an hour south to Sarasota. We camped out in Myakka River State Park for a few days while exploring the beaches and wildlife around Sarasota (Longboat Key, Siesta Key, St. Armand's Circle), Venice, and Ft. Myers (Sanibel, Captiva). The shell collecting on Sanibel is the best around, and the white powdery beaches on Siesta Key can't be beat. We finished up our short trip with a pass through Clearwater Beach, which also has soft white sands like Sarasota. I love this part of Florida!
